A politician ruined by his city

SocratesAnd yet I see a senseless thing happening even now, and I hear of it in the case of the men of old. For I observe that whenever the city takes one of its politicians in hand as a man doing injustice, these men are indignant and protest that they are suffering terrible things: after doing many good things for the city, they are, it seems, being unjustly destroyed by it—so their argument goes.
