250a250bSocratesAs we said, every human soul has by nature seen the things that really are, or it would never have entered a human being. But it is not easy for every soul to recall those things from what we see here. Some saw too little then; others, after falling here, suffered misfortune and, turned towards injustice by bad company, forgot the sacred things they had seen. Few are left with enough memory. When they see here an image of something from there, they are overwhelmed and beside themselves, yet do not know what has happened to them because they cannot discern it clearly.
